What possibilities emerge from the encounter between 19th-century American poet Emily Dickinson, and fictional character from 1990s television Fran Fine? The answer remains unresolved; it lingers on a shared table.
SLANT Éditions places correspondence and poetry at the heart of its philosophy—practices of the in-between that allow us to better grasp what binds us, or to bring our differences to life. Each publication is carefully made by hand, carrying the trace of its making and the presence of those who contributed to it.
Fine Books invites writers to embrace what is set aside as marginal or inappropriate within academic and institutional frameworks, and to work where the improper, the excessive, and the extreme are not deviations but daily routines.
Both believe that books have bodies. Bodies made of paper and ink, staples and threads, stickers and risograph prints (produced by the same machine).
