Ines Claus (b. 1993, Antwerp, Belgium) is a visual artist and founder of the imprint Claus Books. Since graduating from KASK Ghent, she has published around 40 artist books that utilize self-archiving to explore shifting aesthetics and consumer culture. By drawing from the visual languages of fashion, advertising, and urban displays, Claus examines how images function as carriers of meaning and desire.
Her 2025 publication, Boot Book, was recently acquired by the Centre Pompidou’s Bibliothèque Kandinsky and the Kunstenbibliotheek in Ghent. Other publications include the collaborative Drôles d’Oiseaux by Laurence Plumier (2024), inspired by the power of fashion, subcultures and fairy tales in which the magical aura of clothing is underlined, and La Sape, Paris (2023), which she created during her residency at Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris.
At the Paris Ass Book Fair, Claus will present her new book, Shopping bags, a categorized archive of found and purchased shopping bags that continues her investigation into the artifacts of contemporary consumerism.
